Rugged Notebooks is a pioneer in offering "transflective" LCD screens on semi-rugged notebook PCs. Transflective technology originated at NASA (previously known as "optical filter technology" ) many years ago and was offered on early PDAs such as Compaq's IPAQ. It's now available on Kindle e-readers for better readability under harsh and bright daylight.

We like it because it is less expensive than the High Bright technology used by many of our competitors, such as Panasonic Toughbook, while maintaining the same quality. It is also more environmentally friendly because it does not require high wattage for illumination. Plus, transflective LCD screens don't diminish your battery power the way High Bright can.
